Arpa Nova Project

About Us

Preserve. Innovate. Share.

Arpa Nova Project was formed to keep the traditional sounds of ARPA LLANERA alive and audible across North Carolina and beyond. Long-standing music maestros from Venezuela and one Colombian artist bring their unique backgrounds to preserve and spread the invaluable heritage of the majestic LLANERA HARP, introducing the novelty of 4-harp arrangements and experimenting with different ensemble forms,  including instruments like cuatro, bass, percussion, and voice.

What makes the ensemble singular is the arrangement itself: four llanera harps on one stage. Each instrument is already a full band — bordones in the left hand, melody and ornamentation in the right. Stacked and voiced deliberately, the four produce a sonic richness that a single harp, however virtuosic, cannot reach.
